Chatham, a charming seaside town on Cape Cod, is just a few hours away from Boston. Whether you’re driving, flying, or taking a ferry, we’ve outlined the best options to help you get here smoothly.

Driving From Boston

Take I-93 South: From Boston, merge onto I-93 South toward Quincy.

  1. Merge onto MA-3 South: Follow signs for Cape Cod. Stay on MA-3 South until it merges with US-6 East.

  2. Follow US-6 East: Once you’re on Cape Cod, continue on US-6 East toward Provincetown.

  3. Exit 85 to Chatham: Take Exit 85 (formerly Exit 11) for MA-137 toward Chatham/Brewster. Turn right onto MA-137 South and follow signs to Chatham.

  4. Arrive in Chatham: Follow local signs to your destination.

Flying to Cape Cod

For a faster trip, you can fly into Cape Cod’s regional airports:

  1. Fly into Barnstable Municipal Airport (HYA): Located in Hyannis, this airport offers regional flights from Boston and New York. From the airport, Chatham is about a 30-minute drive.

    • Rental cars and taxis are available at the airport.

  2. Cape Air: Operates flights from Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS) to Hyannis. It’s a quick, scenic option to get closer to Chatham.

Ferry from Boston to Cape Cod

For a scenic journey, consider taking a ferry:

  1. Ferry to Provincetown:

    • Depart from: Boston’s Long Wharf (seasonal).

    • Arrive at: Provincetown (P-town).

    • From Provincetown, Chatham is about a 1-hour drive. You can rent a car or use rideshare services.

  2. Ferry to Hyannis:

    • While there is no direct ferry from Boston to Hyannis, you can take the Provincetown ferry and drive to Hyannis, which is closer to Chatham.

Bus Options

The Peter Pan Bus Line offers routes from Boston’s South Station to Hyannis. From Hyannis, you can rent a car or take a taxi for the 30-minute drive to Chatham.
